About Barbara Aide

Club Manager ~ Certified Director ~ BB Certified Instructor

Personal
Barbara is a native Texan born in Austin although, as an Army “brat”, she travelled around the U.S. with her family as a child. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. Degree in Mathematics. She earned her MBA degree from the University of Dallas at Irving and has a CPA license. She retired from Mary Kay Inc. after a 31-year career in the IT department starting as a programmer and finishing as a director. Barbara has two grown children, Adam and Amanda.

She first learned to play bridge in the years BC (before children!) and was hooked. She took a 25 year break from bridge but when the kiddos started heading off to college she began playing again in 2006. Within a few months she won her first fraction of a master point and the race was on. Barbara has always loved card games and numbers. She considers bridge to be the ultimate card game of all time. It has everything from strategy to execution, numbers and patterns everywhere, constant learning and an infinite number of hand combinations. She has amassed a small library of books on bridge and has them scattered all over her house so there’s always one to read. One of her favorites is “No Trump Contracts” by David Bird. Barbara looks forward to getting even more involved in the wonderful world of bridge!
